Spring is just around the corner! Make sure you adjust your driving accordingly to properly prepare for the differences in the roads, environment, and obstacles on the road! Here are the biggest tips and things to remember when on the road this spring.

Be Aware of Work Zones

Road construction often increases in the spring. There are a few reasons for this, one being the fact that there is nice weather, so it makes the task easier to do. Another reason is that roads often get damaged more often during winter, so crews have to go in and repair in the spring. Be aware of the increased construction crews and follow their lane instructions accordingly.

Prepare for Sun Glare

Spring is the season that always really brings the sun back, which means more sun glare. This puts you and your eyes at risk and can make driving harder. To best combat sun glare, you can avoid driving during sunrise and sunset, when the sun glare is the most severe. If you cannot avoid driving at these times, we suggest keeping a pair of sunglasses in your car to have with you any time the sun glare may be in effect.

Look Out for Animals

Spring is when most animals are the most active on and around roads. Many of them were hibernating for winter and finally out and about again. This means they will be active and possibly even run out in the road. Prepare by expecting animals anytime you are on the road!

Watch Out for People and Bikers

Just like animals get more active in the spring, people do too! With the weather changing, people tend to go out more on walks, bike rides, etc. Be aware and make sure you are alert, especially when driving near sidewalks and bike lanes.

Keep an Eye on Tire Pressure

Tire pressure often lowers due to cold weather or drastic weather changes. Be aware of this and check in on your tire pressure often. If you need to, put more air in and if the issue continues, get your tires looked at, as there may be a more serious issue that needs repair or to be replaced.
