Geely is well-known to the well-off and understanding as the sole owner of Volvo and Polestar cars. But what you may not know about them is that the Chinese conglomerate doesn’t want to stop there. It’s actually their hopes that a high-end electrified product series can be launched for the betterment of the industry. All because big titans to take down would be Tesla and BYD. It’s even predicted that Geely and their sub-brand is about to launch the aforementioned fully electric vehicle before the end of the year.
Currently, the Chinese car making giant — Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited — is known to pursue relentless quests for the ideals of sustainable transportation well after having acquired Volvo from Ford. The American supergroup let go of the Swedish automaker.
Geely, the owner of Polestar and Volvo, is launching a new “high-end electrified product series” in a bid to take on the top EV contenders like Tesla and BYD. The first fully electric vehicle from the sub-brand is slated to launch before the end of the year. There had been plenty of leeway that has been accomplished to give Geely the access that they need from Volvo and their advanced tech and expertise in all sorts of realms. Even more pressingly, Geely has access to Volvo’s own racing partner, Polestar, bought out in 2015. That said, Geely and Volvo are in a deep relationship as of 2021, where they can collaborate on next-gen electric drive technology.
And it looks like it’s been paying off for the masses!
The partnership has been able to paid off as indicated by the success of Volvo’s very own C40 and XC40 Recharge electric SUVs while sales are doubling.
In addition, the Geely brand has extended long beyond Volvo, while Geely has operated a brand of vehicles right underneath their own name alongside the Geometry, which is known well as the mass-market EV unit and Zeekr with the premium smart EV brand.
Geely is going above and beyond however, with a new electric brand to be added to it’s portfolio. Aptly titled the Geely Galaxy. During a flagship event in Hangzhou on Thursday, the Chinese automaker had made the announcement of how the premium electrified seires is going to be known as Geely Galaxy. What does that have to do with anything? The Geely is teasing an electric sedan with a resemblance to Tesla Model S and Lotus with varied combination. The Geely Galaxy brand has seven different electrified products with three fully electric vehicles through the pure Galaxy E range as it’s going to be next on the Galaxy E8 scheduling itself for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2023.
In accordance to the automaker, Geely and their latest sub-brand may feature the battery safety technology and new Galaxy N-Operating system with models that have the fastest system startup and response in class.
